George Fowler

 

Several years teaching experience as a vocal music teacher in public and parochial schools in Iowa and Illinois.

Private instruction in voice, piano and organ.

Taught at the college level with graduate assistantships in music education and voice while working towards a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance at Western Illinois University.

Director of community concerts.

Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance University of Iowa.

Master of Arts degree in vocal performance Western Illinois University.

Organist and/or choir director in Iowa, Illinois and California.

 

I attended Drake University studying voice under Mary Mattfield Burdette and also Oklahoma City University studying voice under Inez Lunsford Silberg.  While attending Oklahoma City University, I was bass soloist at the The Methodist Church of Nichols Hills.  While attending the University of Iowa I studied voice under Albert Gammon.

 

I studied and performed operatic roles at the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony in Eureka Springs, Arkansas for seven summer seasons.  Other operatic experience includes appearing in operatic productions at the University of Iowa, Western Illinois University, Oklahoma City University and Simpson College at Indianola, Iowa.

 

President of the Huntington Park Symphony Association 1984-86.

Member of Huntington Park Y’s Men’s Club (Y’s Men International) for several years.

1987-88 received David Jacobs Trophy for “Best District Governor” Los Coyotes District.

1987-88 received the International Elmer Crowe Award for “Outstanding District Governor” Los Coyotes District – Pacific Southwest Region.

1988-89 received Bill Baker Award for “Outstanding Lt. Regional Director” Pacific Southwest Region – Eastern Section.

I resided in Los Angeles for 26 years.  I worked as an administrative assistant for Mutual Wholesale Liquor Inc., a wholesale beer, liquor and wine importer for 10 years.  For 15 years I worked as a traffic coordinator at Carmichael International Service, a Customs House Broker in Los Angeles, where I  retired April 2, 2004.  I moved back to Tama, Iowa on April 15, 2004 and continue to do cake decorating from my home.
